As a result of the pandemic, people are now gaming more than ever, and as we find our feet discovering the new normal, Kaiju Arcade needed a brand identity that brought together all generations and was the perfect place to eat, socialise and game.
Drawing inspiration from the nostalgic charm of old arcades, celebrating the wear and tear as a symbol of street culture. I used Peckham Press, a hand-pressed typeface by Ellen Luff, with its raw, industrial aesthetics. Additionally, the concept of arcades' arches and columns sparked an exploration of isometric design, connecting to iconic 80s arcade machines.

Nostalgia through wear and tear
I visited many arcades and one thing I found in common was general wear and tear on the machines. I love that this represented old street culture, so I discovered Peckham Press a bold hand-pressed typeface with a raw aesthetic and solid industrial style crafted by Ellen Luff. The font felt perfect with its defiant shapes, rough edges, and unadulterated imperfections.

Eager to see my designs come to life, I decided to turn some of my isometric designs into pin badges, working with Studio Dias we simplified the design and created a 5-way colour scheme. Since created I have sold over 250 online!
